Being Heard Project

Being Heard’: promoting children and young people’s involvement in research on sexual violence

The ‘Being Heard’ research project seeks to collect and review international evidence on young people’s involvement in research on sexual violence – including a consideration of the meaning, purpose, challenges and opportunities of doing so.

This one year project (2017), funded by the Oak Foundation, is a collaboration between the ‘The International Centre: Researching Child Sexual Exploitation, Violence and Trafficking’ at the 天美传媒 (IC) and the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) in South Africa.

The IC has been commissioned to undertake a global scoping review to inform developing guidance for children and young people’s involvement in research about sexual violence. This evidence will help to inform the development of new draft international guidance to support researchers considering or undertaking participatory consultation or research with young people on sexual violence.
