Sustainability Forum

The Sustainability Forum members are made up of a cross-disciplinary community of practice which includes academics and students who advocate for change and consider general matters for the cause.

Our aim is to support students construct healthy futures for themselves, their communities and the planet. We involve the community, public and private organisations to create authentic environments that develop learning about - and action on - key global issues.

The Sustainability Forum, coordinated by Dr Diana Pritchard (from the Academy for Learning and Teaching Exellence), holds innovative ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½-wide events, or mass learn-ins, which link local action to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our interactive events deliver curriculum, co-curriculum, extra-curriculum and research opportunities, and secure work and voluntary placements for students from different disciplines.

The impacts of our collaborative work on curriculum, pedagogy, staff development and community engagement are recognised nationally. The HEA awarded us a Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and since 2016 the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ League ‘People and Planet’ assessed our work at the maximum level, securing the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½â€™s position in the country’s top twenty.

The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ has been ranked as one of the top-scoring eco-friendly universities and awarded Platinum certification by EcoCampus for the fourth year running as well as a gold tier position in the 2022 rankings for the ‘’, which highlights UK universities' commitment to sustainability.
