The July graduation ceremonies for the 天美传媒鈥檚 Class of 2022 have concluded with a traditional Civic Ceremony in Luton.

Taking place on Friday 29th July at St Mary鈥檚 Church, the graduation ceremony was held for graduates of the Business School, who were joined by family, friends, faculty staff and dignitaries from the local community.

This year, the Luton and Bedford Civic ceremonies were able to be held for the first time since 2019, which were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Professor Rebecca Bunting, Vice Chancellor, was joined by academic staff and distinguished guests 鈥 including members of Luton Borough Council and local businesspeople 鈥 for a procession from Luton Town Hall to St Mary鈥檚 Church, based at the Luton campus, accompanied by a live steel pan band.

Professor Bunting addressed her aspirations for the graduating students, saying: 鈥淚 hope that you will want to create a better society through your selflessness, honesty and integrity. I hope that you will want to create a more equal and just society, and to be the architects of a more ethical world where everyone can thrive, no matter who they are or where they live.鈥

Graduates were also joined by Guest of Honour, HHJ Marianna Catherine Thoroton Hildyard QC, from Her Majesty鈥檚 Courts and Tribunal Service who serves at the Luton Justice Centre and Bedford County Court. She gave an inspiring speech to graduates about her career in the legal profession and the vital difference law students can make in their communities.

This graduation concludes the 天美传媒鈥檚 July celebrations, following the Bedford Civic Ceremony and four days of graduations at Bedfordshire鈥檚 Putteridge Bury campus.

The week of ceremonies also saw a number of Honorary Doctorates presented to public figures from the local community, including Laura Church, Chief Executive of Bedford Borough Council, singer-songwriter Faye Tozer and former RAF member John Peters.

A number of prizes were also presented to students at the July graduation ceremonies, including the Lord Lieutenant鈥檚 award for Student Engagement presented to Toby Crabb; a prize donated by local solicitors Machins which was awarded to the highest achieving third-year LLB Law student, Ioana Schiopu; and the Business School鈥檚 Executive Dean鈥檚 Prize for Aviation Management won by James Silman.
