天美传媒鈥檚 Fantastic Noise podcast returns for series three

A podcast created in-house by a lecturer at 天美传媒 has returned for its highly anticipated third series.

Fantastic Noise 鈥 created by Senior Tutor in Radio and Audio, Terry Lee 鈥 is the go-to podcast for budding broadcasters and those interested in gaining an insight into the ever-expanding world of all things audio.

The podcast, which launched in 2018, is designed to give students a chance to hear from industry experts on a range of topics, as well as making concepts and ideas accessible by busting jargon and exploring what good audio sounds like.

Terry is also coordinator of the 天美传媒鈥檚 award-winning community radio station , based at the Luton campus. In every Fantastic Noise episode, he sits down with an industry insider to discuss aspects of audio including production, editing and presenting, with the aim of passing on practical advice and guidance to the next generation of broadcasters.

Previous episodes have featured guests from , and to name but a few.

Ahead of the launch of series three of , Terry said: 鈥Since 2018, these podcasts have been a really useful way to give our students industry expertise and insight, direct to their ears.

鈥淚n this new series of Fantastic Noise we are focusing on specific themes and topics that my students regularly bring up with me.鈥

Available from 15th September, the first episode of series three sees Terry talk to popular YouTuber and CBeebies host Maddie Moate. In this episode, Maddie discusses , her new children鈥檚 education podcast which she hosts and produces, and talks to Terry about how podcasting platforms can be a flexible home for independent content creators.

Other episodes in the upcoming series will see the BBC鈥檚 Dan Maudsley talking about his award-winning true crime podcast 鈥樷, as well as an episode devoted to social media for radio organisations and a discussion with Annie Joyce and Kiran Bhangal.

Terry said: 鈥The professional radio and audio people I speak with are always so generous with their time and have great advice for those looking to made radio or podcasts.

鈥淭hese episodes have also been a great way for me to keep on top of industry trends, so I can ensure our students are being taught with up-to-date information and industry standard techniques.鈥

Fantastic Noise has been well-received by students and industry sources alike, being shortlisted last year in the category of 鈥楤est Podcast鈥 at the Community Radio Awards.

The podcast has also featured to special live episodes, covering the topics of the future of radio and making audio drama respectively. In the latter, Terry was joined by editor of the world鈥檚 longest running drama 鈥 .

Fantastic Noise is available on all podcast players including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean and Google Podcasts.

Fantastic Noise helps supplement the teaching at Bedfordshire鈥檚 School of Culture and Communications. There are many courses available at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level in a range of subjects including Radio, Journalism and Media.
