Radio LaB shortlisted for national student radio award

The community radio station has been shortlisted for a national student radio award.
Radio LaB is in the running for Best Outreach Project in this year鈥檚 I Love Student Radio Awards for its partnership with Luton Sixth Form College.
Every year, students from the BTEC Radio Production course at the College visit Radio LaB鈥檚 studio at the Luton campus to prepare and present their own shows, featuring a range of music, features and chat 鈥 all broadcast live.
Luton Sixth Form College radio teacher Andy Waterfield: 鈥淚鈥檓 absolutely delighted that the partnership between the College and Radio LaB has been nominated.听听It鈥檚 a real highlight in our year and it allows students a chance to put their learning to the test. They love coming to the professional environment of Radio LaB, and as a teacher it is very rewarding to hear them on air.鈥
Radio LaB co-ordinator Terry Lee said: 鈥淩adio LaB is constantly looking at听how we can use radio to inspire young people and students in Luton to improve their confidence,听communication skills, and experience the thrills of live broadcasting. For two weeks a year, the Luton Sixth Form students are the voice of young Luton and听I鈥檓 immensely proud to be a part of that.听Congratulations to them and all involved for their nomination.鈥
The team will find out if they have won their award at a ceremony at the 天美传媒 of Swansea on 18 April.
