Continuing collaborations with the United Nations Association of Luton and Harpenden, the Sustainability Forum supported an event held at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ on 26th November 2017 to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Ninety-five participants took part in 'Commonwealth Women: Climate Change and Migration', including local dignitaries and councillors, representatives of women’s organisations and the diversity of our Bedfordshire communities.

The event focussed on celebrating women’s local and international leadership in work to protect women and girls from various forms of violence, and around the challenges and opportunities of climate change and migration.

With its inclusion of a workshop session, participants had the opportunity to contribute to the drafting of a letter that will be sent to the Commonwealth Heads of Government in light of a meeting that will be hosted in London during late May 2018.

Participants urged Commonwealth leaders to recognise the vital role of women in making communities safe and resilient and to make provision that supported their work.
