In the last twelve months the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s carbon emissions have dropped by around 630 tonnes, compared with the previous twelve month period. The reduction in carbon emissions was assissted by an investment in a combined heat and power plant at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s Bedford campus.

In 2008/9 the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ emitted around 7,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the earth's atmosphere.

This has now been reduced to just under 5,500 tonnes.

The 2,000 tonne reduction inÌýÌýcarbon emissions is partly as a result of the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½â€™s year on year investment in and instillation of low carbon technologies such as LED lighting and highly efficient boilers.

To meet its carbon reduction target, the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ needs to continue reducing its carbon emissions at a rate of around 500 tonnes per year until 2020.
