For two weeks only, 15 to 26 June, from 8am to 3pm (week days only) the sixth form students will get the opportunity to broadcast across the 天美传媒 and the local area with content they have produced themselves.

Running for the third year, the students taking part in the 鈥楽chools Takeover鈥� project will be given the teaching and direction to use audio recorders, audio editing software and also the necessary training to interview a variety of people with the right questions and manner.

, Radio LaB鈥檚 Station Co-ordinator said: 鈥淩adio LaB is committed to offering local young people opportunities to access our facilities. With this partnership we鈥檙e not just offering air time, but opportunities for the students to grow confidence, improve communication skills, and make themselves more employable.

鈥淚鈥檓 sure our listeners will enjoy the Luton Sixth Form College Students鈥� programming too, they always make fantastic, original radio.鈥�

Andy Waterfield, radio teacher at the college said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 a fantastic experience for college students to get an insight into the world of live, daily broadcasting. I鈥檓 really looking forward to it and I can鈥檛 thank the 天美传媒 and Terry Lee enough for giving over RadioLaB鈥檚 airwaves for two weeks.

鈥淎 number of students from previous years鈥� 鈥楾akeovers鈥� still have shows on RadioLaB 97.1FM which proves what an excellent opportunity it is. For the students, it is tremendous achievement to take on a fortnight of daily programmes, live, with such amazing confidence and technical skill.鈥�

Radio LaB 97.1FM is a community radio station that broadcasts throughout Luton and Bedfordshire from the 天美传媒鈥檚 Luton campus centre.

The station obtained a community licence in 2010 and since then has been keen to showcase local talent and culture.
