Have you ever wanted to experience what it’s like to work in a radio station? At the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, you have the opportunity to do exactly that with our own community radio station, Radio LaB 97.1 FM.

Radio LaB broadcasts a variety of shows, from specialist music shows, to light entertainment, to news programmes, throughout Luton and Bedfordshire from our Luton campus.

Whether you want to have a go at presenting your own show or experience what it’s really like to work behind the scenes at a radio station, Radio LaB provides you with the platform to do exactly that.

If you’re considering a career in Radio, or the Media Industry, volunteering with Radio LaB can help to build your portfolio and provide you with real industry experience and networking opportunities. Former Radio LaB staff and alumni include Melvin Odoom, BBC Radio 1 DJ, and Becky Jago, ITV Anglia News presenter.

But Radio LaB isn't just for students who want to work in radio audio - it's a fun hobby that anyone can get involved with, which will help you to develop many transferrable skills and will look great on your CV!

Showcase your work at Bedfordshire through regular exhibitions and degree shows. Not only will you have the opportunity to exhibit your work, you'll also be given the chance to discuss your work with your peers, as well as a wider audience, and network with industry professionals.

The end-of-year Degree Shows in the School of Arts and Creative Industries allow students to celebrate their work and achievements. The shows, which are open to students, staff and members of the public, showcases a wide variety of work including creative writing, dance, fashion, photography and film.

Students from the School of Computer Science and Technology have the opportunity to participate in Project Poster Days, where they can demonstrate their final-year project work and showcase their skills, knowledge and achievements for peers and regional business partners.

Our Research Graduate School host an annual Postgraduate Research Conference, where postgraduate students from all four of the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s faculties (Business School; Creative Arts, Technologies and Science; Education, English and Sport; and Health and Social Sciences) can present their work through a series of poster and oral presentations.

At Beds, we support and encourage you to take part in external competitions and live briefs, which help you to gain industry experience and get recognition for your hard work.

Entering competitions is also a great way for you to stand out from other graduates.

Many of our students have been recognised within their industry after being nominated and winning awards from: Association for Project Management (APM); British Education Awards; Social Worker of the Year Awards; British Computing Society (The Chartered Institute of IT); and Student Nursing Times Award.

Whether you’re interested in working as a designer, publisher, illustrator, editor, or various other careers in the design and publishing industry, Guildford Street Press could provide you with invaluable experience alongside your studies at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.

Guildford Street Press is managed and supported by alumni, staff and student interns and publishes printed matter for both the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and external clients.

Based in the School of Arts and Creative Industries, Guildford Street Press features industry-standard facilities giving you a real idea of what you may be working with once you have completed your degree.
