Mike Fisher

I joined the Tilda Goldberg Centre for Social Work and Social Care in 2012 as Professor of Evidence-Based Social Work.

Previously I worked as Director of Research at the National Institute for Social Work (1996-2001) and at the (2001-12).

I am a qualified social worker.

Qualifications

  • BA (Hons) Modern Languages - ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of Cambridge, 1968-1971
  • Diploma in Social Administration - ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of York, 1972-1973
  • Certificate in Applied Social Studies and Certificate of Qualification in Social Work - Manchester Polytechnic, 1974-1975

  • How care can better reflect the wishes of people who use services and become more effective at meeting those needs.

  • Involving people living with dementia in systematic review
  • A pilot study of post-diagnostic support for people living with dementia
  • Promoting good practice in relation to alcohol use in care homes for older people (NIHR study, with SMART)
  • The relationship between practice research and evidence based practice
  • Reducing health inequalities among the street community (with SMART)
