Lecturer in Ecomonics

Dr Aniema Atorudibo is a Lecturer in Economics at the School of Accounting, Finance and Law, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½. Previously, she was an Assistant Lecturer at the School of Economics, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of Kent where she contributed to the development and delivery of various undergraduate modules including Development Economics, Principles of Economics, and Economics for Business. She then joined the Natural Resources Institute (NRI) at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of Greenwich as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow where she contributed to the development of an innovative tool for measuring women’s empowerment in millet-based enterprise development in low- and middle-income countries using experimental data.

Aniema Atorudibo has a PhD in Economics from the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of Kent with extensive experience in teaching and research. She specializes in the microeconomics of development with specific focus on the economics of gender and culture, intra-household resource allocation and decision-making, as well as poverty, inequality, and sustainable rural development. Her doctoral thesis addressed the influence of cultural/social norms on the labour market and fertility choices of women in developing countries. It highlights, crucially, the importance of formal institutional quality in mitigating the adverse effects of cultural norms on the socio-economic outcomes of women in developing countries.
