Kasamu Dawa Kabiru

Lecturer in Adult Nursing

My journey in academia started in 2013, two years after I graduated from the university as a registered nurse and midwife. I spent the two years of practice after graduation mainly in maternity which to a greater extent informed my choice to become a lecturer. Few years into my role as a lecturer, I moved to the UK for MSc in Advanced Nursing.

Just before completing my MSc in 2015, I joined the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register as an adult nurse and thereafter secured a job as a staff nurse with Luton and Dunstable Hospital in gastro-hepatology ward. My time in this department sparked a newfound passion for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) which letter led to a change of job to endoscopy. I spent the rest of my career in the NHS as IBD research nurse/coordinator where I had the opportunity to contribute to novel national clinical trials in IBD.
