Dr Ourania Dimitraki

Senior Lecturer in Economics and Finance, Course Coordinator - MSc Financial Economics & MSc International Relations Management

Dr Ourania Dimitraki I started my professional life as a governmental official in Greece. I finished my PhD in Economics in Brunel ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, UK, in July 2012 and joined the Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Global Strategy Group in the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of Essex in October 2012 as an expert on accounting and finance. Hence, I am one of the online tutors for the CeFIMS and CeDeP centres in SOAS ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.

As an Academic I am dedicated, adaptable and personable with a proactive, detail-oriented and results-driven approach. Moreover, I have a specialist interest in applied economics, particularly defence & peace economics. My principal research interests, though, lay on the impact of the regional aspect of social reproduction under specific socio-historical conditions and political/governmental policies on economic growth in different countries.

At present I am investigating the effects of political regime types, the policies which stem out of different political systems and the underlying social environment on the economic well-being in LDC (mainly Asian countries and the Balkans).

Finally, among my future plans is to expand my involvement in international peace research programs.
