The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s Computing and IT cluster offers a comprehensive suite of undergraduate and postgraduate programs designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the rapidly evolving field of technology. This cluster includes a range of courses accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for professional careers and recognized for their expertise. The cluster is supported by a dedicated team of currently 23 members of staff, who bring a wealth of academic and industry experience – ranging from AI, Software Development, Data Science to User Experience Design – to their teaching.
Among the undergraduate programs, the BSc (Hons) Computer Science course provides a broad-based education in computer science, covering essential areas such as systems architecture, security, programming, and artificial intelligence. It includes practical skills development and offers an optional placement year in industry. The BSc (Hons) Software Engineering program focuses on the design, development, and deployment of large-scale software systems, emphasizing practical experience through real-world projects. The BSc (Hons) Information Technology course offers comprehensive training in IT, covering core concepts such as programming and user interface design. It includes work-based projects and industry collaboration, ensuring students gain practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge.
For postgraduate students, the MSc Computer Science program provides a broad-based education in modern computer science, equipping students with core theoretical knowledge and technical skills. It covers areas such as parallel and intelligent systems, as well as networking. The MSc Software Engineering and Applications course is designed for graduates and experienced programmers who want to solve real-world problems and build complex software applications. It covers advanced software engineering techniques, such as cloud computing, enhancing the credibility and global recognition of the qualification.
