Temitope Afuye

Tutor in Health and Social Care

Temitope Afuye

I have been teaching Law, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Skills, Academic Writing and Philosophy (Critical thinking) in a number of higher educational settings. I qualified with a degree in Law in 2001 and a Masters in EU Law in 2004. I have developed keen interest in shaping the writing and thinking of undergraduate and postgraduate students through ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Skills and Critical Thinking and inspiring them as future leaders.

Apart my experience as an academic, I appeared as a Legal Representative at Employment Tribunals in England between 2008 & 2010.

During the same period, I also practised as an Office of The Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC) accredited Immigration Law Consultant specialising in Leave to Enter and Remain in the United Kingdom.

I accepted my position as Tutor in Health & Social Care at the Birmingham ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Hub but I actually started teaching as an Hourly Paid Lecturer (HPL) on the same campus in January 2020 with Skill Development in The Social Sciences and Introduction to Social Science Research (ISSR) as my main areas of teaching. I passionately believe that with the right guidance, students will approach their degrees with utmost confidence and can subsequently function in society and deliver the Epicurean philosophy of the greatest good for the greatest number.

As part of my commitment to community development within the healthcare sector, I volunteer at my local GP’s surgery as a member of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) and I am a member of the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
