Russell Murden
Senior Lecturer in Policing
I retired from Thames Valley Police in 2015 after 30 years where I undertook numerous roles before finishing as an Inspector. Since 2025 I have been teaching at both the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and Bucks New ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.
From September 2020 I have been employed as a senior lecturer at UoB.
I have a keen interest in all aspects of Policing and in particular with the circumstances surrounding the Hillsborough disaster and Stop and Search. In addition, I have undertaken research into Evidence Based Policing and its acceptance and role within Policing.
I am an External Examiner for another ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and mentor colleagues starting on this role.
I oversee the delivery of Criminology based course to an adult education centre in Bedfordshire.
I have recently been involved in writing two new degrees for the UoB:
- BSc in Policing & Applied Criminal Investigations 2025
- Policing & Investigations Practice (top-up for serving Police Officers) 2025
