Dr Quadri Ogunfemi
Tutor in Health and Social Care
I have extensive experience teaching at all levels of higher education, ranging from foundation courses to postgraduate studies. Holding a PhD in Social Sciences, I possess comprehensive knowledge of human society, its institutions, behaviours, and the intricate relationships between these elements and health factors. My areas of expertise include the social science approach to public health, the sociology of health and medicine, the political economy of development, and the politics of humanitarianism and environmental sustainability.
My teaching portfolio covers the interdisciplinary areas of health care, social care, and public health. It includes topics such as migration politics, health equity, health economics, and social policy, connecting theory with real-world challenges.
In addition, my responsibilities at the university include serving as the Level 6 Year Lead for BA Health and Social Care students (London Campus), Career and Employability Lead (London Campus), and Unit Lead for four modules across undergraduate and postgraduate courses: Inclusivity and Diversity in Health, Primary Health Care: Theory and Practice, Public Health Policy and Strategy, and The Principles and Applications of Health Economics. Furthermore, I provide support to the MSc Public Health and MSc International Social Welfare and Social Development programs by supervising dissertation students.
I have spent time as a Visiting Researcher at the Sudd Institute and as an Academic Visitor at the Institute for Peace, Development, and Security Studies, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of Juba, both in South Sudan. I am a member of the Development Studies Association, Sustainable Sanitation Alliance, International Humanitarian Studies Association, Health Systems Global, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
My current research employs interdisciplinary methods to examine the intersections of international development, social care, and public health. The focus is on how these elements impact policy-making and drive social change in various environments, particularly in fragile and conflict affected settings. Furthermore, I am investigating the interface between artificial intelligence large language models and constructivist theories of learning through a Constructivist-AI Framework for Teaching and Learning (CAFTAL) model, and its application in classroom settings.
