Course Coordinator Foundation Year, Senior Lecturer in Criminology
I have been teaching criminology in a number of educational settings since I qualified with a degree in criminology in 2007. I developed a keen interest in many aspects of criminology, the criminal justice system and mental health in relation to criminal behaviour.
I am also interested in Human Trafficking in particular the trafficking of infants into and within the UK. In addition I am also interested in the multi agency approach towards ex-offenders, their rehabilitation and generally the ‘end to end’ management of offenders.
I also have an interest in research to do with teaching and learning. In 2014 – 15 I was involved within a university working group project which focused upon developing essential academic skills within a diverse student body.
I am now the Course Coordinator for the Foundation Degree program (SASS Cluster). But I have been a Senior Lecturer in Criminology for a number of years now and enjoy adopting a creative and innovative approach to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I actively encourage students to transfer their learning from a surface approach to a deeper approach to learning so that they can develop transferable knowledge and essential academic skills in order to progress. I also firmly believe that effective and efficient pedagogical practice allows students to realise their own potential, needs and future aspirations in order to develop a sense of ‘graduateness’ whilst developing useful skills for employment.
The course units that I design and teach and my research are deeply intertwined. I passionately believe that the realties of our contemporary world and its challenges and problems make criminology one of the most important areas within all of the social sciences.

- PGCAP, 2012 completed second of 2 units – Enhancing Learner Development. ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, Luton, Beds, UK. Studies included collaborative learning, self regulation, and an independent Action Research Project.
