The 天美传媒's STEM Building was officially opened by Lord Robert Winston on Tuesday 17th September 2019.

The School of Computer Science occupies two floors of the new STEM building, comprising eight labs.

This is an Automotive Engineering lab.

This room contains:

  • Assembly bench
  • Formula student car
  • Student technical library
  • Racing motorcycle
  • Go Kart

Is a Laser and Optics lab.

This room is for Mechatronics and Electronic Engineering and is equipped with:

  • Solder stations and extractors
  • Construction work benches
  • Wind Tunnel

  • 3D printers

Is an Automotive Lab.

Equipped for Mechanical Engineering and Automotive teaching:

  • Sandblaster
  • Parts washer
  • Workbenches

Is an Electronics Lab.

Equipped with 8 computers each having:

  • Intel core i5 processors
  • 8 GB RAM

Lab also contains:

  • 16 Waveform Generators
  • 16 Power Supplies
  • 16 Digital Storage Oscilloscopes

Fabrication Lab supports student projects and research in designing and manufacturing artefacts. D009 provides traditional subtractive manufacturing - machines that cut material to produce a component

Is a Networking Lab, equipped with 47 computers.

Each computer having:

  • Intel core i5 processors
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Cisco equipment

These rooms are General Teaching labs, each room is equipped with 71 computers. These labs have the facility to be joined, making a large teaching area comprising 142 computers.

  • Intel core i7 processors
  • 16 GB RAM

Is a General Teaching lab, equipped with 46 computers.

Each computer having:

  • Intel core i7 processors
  • 16 GB RAM

D105/D106/D107

These rooms are purpose built study hubs. For use by students for either their individual or group studies.

Two study hubs have capacity for six students and one has capacity for four students. Each with a large screen monitor which students can connect to using a laptop. Each station is equipped with USB and power sockets are on the desk.
