Conference on improving service provision for people with learning difficulties
On 1 June 2018 CLI and hosted one day, invite only conference, on improving service provision for people with learning difficulties.
25 people attended, including commissioners, self advocates, service providers and regulators. Facilitated by Linette MacIntyre (parent, advocate and blogger: Home From the Hill) to discuss the gap between reality and rhetoric and how it might be breached.
This event is a continuation of the research project between CLI and Paradigm on Creating Positive Cultures.
This initiative emerged out of a series of workshops and projects where participants expressed concerns and identified a number of constraints that mitigate against the provision of the quality of support that is desired by people with learning disabilities and support workers alike. In response Paradigm organised the Creating Positive Cultures programme, a series of workshops and interventions designed to help teams identify barriers to the provision of person-centred services and to develop and pilot possible solutions.
