The Project Manager Degree Apprenticeship is meticulously crafted to equip individuals with contemporary project management methodologies and practices. Qualifications

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, candidates will attain the following qualifications:

  • BSc (Hons) Project Management degree
  • Level 6 Project Manager Degree Apprenticeship
  • Chartered Association for Project Management (APM) Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
  • English and Maths up to Level 2 are integrated into the programme, if not already possessed upon entry

This programme incorporates the Chartered Association for Project Management (APM) Project Management Qualification (PMQ), with apprentices having the opportunity to enroll as Student Members of the Chartered APM at no cost. Upon fulfilling the requirements of the course, apprentices will be eligible to progress to Associate Membership of the Chartered APM.


Units of study

Level 4 Units

In this dynamic environment, leaders and managers are tasked with supporting their teams and colleagues to ensure that requisite skills, knowledge, and behaviours align with evolving demands, facilitating organisational adaptation. Understanding team dynamics and recognising the traits of high-performing teams is crucial, as leveraging these insights can enhance team, business, and project outcomes within the organisation.


Project Management Practice is a subject area rooted in practical application, requiring the utilisation of models and techniques to attain defined objectives. This unit seeks to:

  • Enhance your comprehension of project management and its varied applications across different contexts.
  • Equip you with an understanding of the methodologies, tools, and techniques available for project management, while also delving into their respective advantages and disadvantages.
  • Provide you with the necessary skills to approach new projects confidently, ensuring their successful completion.

By introducing and practicing project management techniques, models, and tools, this unit aims to prepare you with the ability to apply them effectively in workplace settings.


Practical Professional Development is designed to:

  • Explore and analyse essential skills and behaviours crucial for realising your professional development aspirations. It aims to assist you in setting and taking ownership of goals, thereby shaping your development journey throughout the course.
  • Foster the development of critical communication skills, academic study abilities, reflective practices, and team-building competencies that align with professional standards.
  • Introduce and clarify the fundamental professional and personal skills required to advance organisational objectives within the realm of project management roles.

Project Finance and Resource Management aims to equip students with fundamental knowledge and skills in project resource management and finance. The objective of this unit is to ensure that students acquire:

  • Fundamental knowledge and skills pertaining to project resource management and finance.
  • The capability to develop project business use cases, create project budgets, pinpoint suitable financing avenues, and evaluate projects using pertinent investment appraisal methods.
  • Proficiency in identifying, recording, and summarising relevant accounting and finance data to support decision-making in project management scenarios.
  • A contemporary and comprehensive grasp of the role of procurement processes within projects.

Level 5 Units


Project Planning and Control aims to enhance understanding of project planning and control components by fostering a systematic comprehension of project management approaches, methodologies, and associated tools and techniques. This enables effective application across various business contexts. This unit will equip you with the requisite knowledge and skills to formulate and execute project plans, ensuring successful project completion. It will also provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective project risk and issue management, as well as the ability to monitor and control projects proficiently, thereby facilitating the achievement of stated project delivery objectives.


Professional Development and Digital Age Working aims to identify and examine key skills and behaviours that will support you in achieving your professional development ambitions. It will assist you in setting and taking ownership of goals, shaping your development throughout the course. Additionally, the unit aims to enhance your critical perspective and analytical skills. The objective of this unit is to provide you with an introduction to and understanding of virtual and digital-age environments, highlighting how effective leadership can aid your developmental goals.


Project Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement aims to delve into theoretical concepts of project leadership and foster the development of leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. The unit emphasises the investigation and cultivation of a comprehensive understanding of contextual relevance, behaviours, and cultural patterns within the realm of project leadership and stakeholder engagement.


The unit on Project Governance and Quality aims to help you understand the importance of effectively managing projects within an organisation to ensure they align with its objectives. You'll learn how to develop and execute a project governance plan and how to assess its effectiveness. Additionally, this unit provides the knowledge and skills necessary to establish strong project quality policies and procedures. You'll learn how to manage and oversee project quality processes to ensure that projects meet their intended requirements.

Level 6 Units


The unit aims to develop an understanding of how programmes and projects enable organisations to achieve short, medium and long-term strategies to achieve the overall goals. The unit aims to enable you to prepare a well thought out plan for change by working with the project sponsor, and justify and evaluate a range of actions for promoting an effective plan for change in managing projects. This unit should enable you to understand the broader context of the organisational environment and the structural choices to implement strategy and change. That should enable you to make informed decisions in more senior roles. Furthermore it will consider how concepts of strategy and change management overlap, and how project managers prepare organisation, team and individuals for organisational change.


The unit on Digital Business and New Technologies in Management is designed to emphasise and investigate the latest advancements and upcoming trends in the business world. Its goal is to empower students to anticipate and adjust to these trends by comprehending their potential effects on teams, clients, and the organisation as a whole. Moreover, this unit fosters an understanding of ethics and integrity and their significance in today's digital era trends. It enables you to assess, differentiate, and apply advanced skills relevant to the business context, regardless of the specific department.


This unit aims to develop literature review and critical thinking skills to provide the basis upon which to develop a project proposal for your End Point Assessment (EPA). This unit introduces the processes and techniques associated with research within a business context. It provides a coherent and structured syllabus that develops insight into the elements required to undertake secondary research as well as a range of philosophical perspectives on the nature and scope of what constitutes research and how to conduct literature reviews. This unit is designed for you to prepare for your EPA project utilising subject experience from prior learning and from your role within your organisation in preparing for the Change Project, demonstrating the application of skills, knowledge and behaviours.


This includes preparing for a Professional Review of your portfolio evidence of meeting the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) of the Apprenticeship Standard. Additionally, you'll undertake a structured work-based project that also demonstrates the required Project Manager Apprenticeship Standard鈥檚 KSBs.


Entry requirements

While specific entry requirements may vary depending on individual employers, apprentices are generally expected to meet the following criteria:

  • Attainment of suitable Level 3 qualifications upon entry, such as 3 A Levels at Grades A to C, or an equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Proficiency in Maths and English at Level 2 is typically required before commencing the apprenticeship.

Fees:

Companies with an annual wage bill below 拢3m will only pay 拢1100 over four years (拢275 per annum) for this apprenticeship, as the government funds 95% of the full fee. If you are a Levy-paying organisation then this apprenticeship will cost 拢22,000 from your Levy fund. As a business of any size, you may also use your to apply for funding from large businesses that want to transfer their unspent Levy to fund 100% of your apprenticeship training and assessment costs.
